In Brief

The Golden Goose has been developed to give Kindergartners the chance to fully and actively participate in a live theatrical performance. Audience members will assume roles as citizens of the Land of the Golden Goose. Each will be assigned to one of six citizen groups: Village Elders, Clowns, Hunters, Bakers, Soldiers and Fishermen. Each child will be costumed with a medallion unique in color and etched with the letter that begins the name of their citizen group. The action of the play is orchestrated by the Story Sorcerer. Our actors, in addition to portraying a few of the characters in the play, will assist the children in their roles as Citizens. At the end of the performance as they leave the Land of the Golden Goose, the children will return their medallions and receive a diploma certifying that they have become Story Apprentices.

Teacher Comments

“ This was by far the best production for children I have seen. All of my children were engaged, interested, and loving every minute! Willie was so VERY age appropriate and a joy to have in class. Thank you. Please come back soon! ”
- M. Groot, Lincoln School, Newark CSD

“ My students have not stopped talking about your visit. Their writing/illustrations in their journals are awesome. What a great opportunity for the children to use their imagination! Please continue your programs for our schools. ”
- H. Gray, Smith Road Elementary, North Syracuse CSD

“ Outstanding performance. Involving the children in the story creates an atmosphere of positive group interaction. Children have an innate sense of drama and you help develop a transition from this natural skill to theater. We are fortunate to have you in our community. ”
- M. Phillips, Herman Avenue Elementary, Auburn Enlarged SD

“ We look forward to your visit every year! Your actors are wonderful and always demonstrate a wonderful understanding of where the children are developmentally. It's a wonderful opportunity for us all!”
